Challenge Accepted: Declutter the House in a Month (Week 4)
This is it. The final week of my decluttering challenge. I’d be lying if I said I still had the motivation of week one. But the house is looking better and becoming more manageable week by week. This week I am focused on bedrooms, especially cleaning out wardrobes for the change in season from summer to fall. If you haven’t read my other posts, check them out here: Week One (Living area, Main bathroom) Week Two (Kitchen, Pantry, Fridge, & Freezer) Week Three (Playroom & Library room) Make sure you read to the end! Challenge Accepted: Declutter the House in a Month (Week 3)
My house is looking…better. Kind of. To be honest, during the day when my kids are running around and playing, the house looks the same. But in the evening when we pick up or early morning when it’s just me awake, I see progress. If you’re new here, check out my Week One (main living areas) and Week Two (kitchen, refrigerator, freezer, pantry) posts to catch up. This week my motivation is waning. I’ve made some decent progress but I just don’t have the pep in my step that I had the first two weeks. My planned areas to clean this week are the playroom, our library room, and the…

Challenge Accepted: Declutter the House in a Month (Week Two)
Do you ever feel completely overwhelmed by your stuff? Like everywhere you look there are uncontrollable piles of crap, crammed drawers of junk, and too-big things shoved in teeny tiny spaces? You, my friend, need a good old-fashioned house declutter. If you haven’t read Week One, start here: Declutter the House in a Month (Week One). To catch you up, I had a mini mental breakdown after a few minor disturbances hit our household and decided I needed a full-blown house declutter. No regrets! Last week I focused on the main living area and bathroom. This helped me see and feel immediate results and be motivated to continue. This week…

Challenge Accepted: Declutter the House in a Month (Week One)
The Catalyst This past weekend was a series of unfortunate events. First, we had a 10-hour road trip planned. As you know, before a vacation you are hastily packing and planning. And then you leave the house at 3:00 a.m. with a mess behind you and an open road ahead. Event 1 Before we left for vacation, we had ordered a new couch to be delivered for the weekend after we returned. While on vacation, I got a notification that the couch was arriving early…while still on vacation. Of course! Luckily, my brother-in-law was able to run over and bring the couch into the garage for us (Thank you, Edgar!). …
