How to Make Life More Enchanting: Discovering Earth Magic
It’s been a minute since I’ve updated the blog in a real way. Life gets busy. Things fall to the wayside. I want to try to be more present in this space. But I’m going to do things a little differently this month. How do we make life more enchanting at the Peaceful Burrow Blog? Read on to find out and for a little life update.
What obstacles am I facing right now?
I’m going to start by complaining. Whining. Grumbling and griping, if you will…just to get it out there. I’m tired of my corporate life. When I first got this fancy new corporate job, I was so excited to work full-time, leave the daily home tasks behind, and make good money. It was fun for awhile. I swear, it was. I got to dress up in business clothes and talk to adults all day. But the novelty has worn off and I am so over it.
This full-time work doesn’t mean the daily home tasks disappear, it means they get crammed into even less time to complete. The full-time in-office hours mean I see my kids, husband, and pets way less than when I was working several part-time jobs. The money was great but then inflation happened and now it’s just the same as it was before. And I’m tired of wearing heels and blazers. There, I said it.
The grass wasn’t greener on the other side. I think I’ve grown immensely in this time. But I’m once again ready for a change.

What’s bringing me joy right now?
Now that all that complaining is out of the way…
There are a lot of things bringing me joy right now. Spring is the main culprit of this joy. I love waking up to birds chirping, windows open, early sunrises, and the feeling of renewed energy. The kids are excited to wear less layers and run around outside whenever they can. The early spring flowers are blooming and adding pops of color to the scenery, while the grass grows 2 inches overnight and reminds us that nature is going to do whatever the hell it wants. It does not care about your mowing schedule.
In short, Spring is giving me life right now. And isn’t that just as it should be?
How can I bring more magic into my life right now?
Now for the question I ask myself every day. How can I bring more magic into my life right now? This blog was started, after all, to make life more enchanting.
For me, making life more enchanting or more magical is always in the small, day-to-day rituals. It’s not extreme. It’s not an overhaul. It’s usually in the moment and so tiny you might miss it. But it’s important to me to bring presence and whimsy to my life and the life I’m creating for my family.
Because this season is all about renewal and spring is quite literally bringing life to this earth, I am going to find ways to bring more magic into my life through this lens. Earth magic lives in the little things. Step outside, feel the breeze, look at the new colorful blooms, listen to the bumblebees, and smell the earth waking up beneath your feet. Making life more enchanting can begin with a single, magical pause each day.
What’s better than that magical pause? Sharing it with your children and teaching them to notice the same magical moments on their own.

What are 3 things I’m grateful for right now?
Why not end with some gratitude, right?
- 90’s kids movies. We just took a road trip recently to Arkansas and my kids exclusively watched 90’s movies on our pop-up DVD player in the minivan. It was the greatest thing ever.
- Candles and tea. Nothing grounds me quite like lighting a candle and pouring myself a cup of tea. I feel like a calmer person just thinking about it.
- Morning walks. It is finally bright enough in the mornings to get outside for a nice, long walk before work. It is my absolute favorite way to start my day.
If you made it this far, thanks for staying!
Don’t forget summer break is right around the corner and you may need some help with that. I’m looking forward to bringing back some fun summer activities this year for my kids to do (way more independently than every before!).
